Services: Conversion &
Upgrade Support
TRIDENT Services
has provided support for numerous clients in undertaking their conversion to new parallel sysplex,
operating system, central processing unit, and storage device technologies. The support provided has
included everything from initial evaluation and planning to assistance in implementation to
assumption of complete responsibility for a specific conversion or upgrade project. Some of these
projects are outlined below.
TRIDENT Services has provided complete z/OS migration project management and systems programming
support for a multi billion dollar food distribution and retailing chain. Ongoing support is also
provided for Y2K compliance projects and consolidation of workloads from recent acquisitions.
Services are facilitated through use of TRIDENT's OS/EM software which client elected to retain
on permanent license.
TRIDENT Services provides complete z/OS migration project management and systems programming
maintenance support services on an ongoing basis to a major Department of Defense installation.
z/OS was installed on time and well within budget using the facilities provided by
TRIDENT's proprietary OS/EM software. Client has retained OS/EM on a permanent license.
TRIDENT Services staff members have complete responsibility for the implementation and maintenance
of z/OS in support of an IBM 9672 parallel sysplex installation and EMC RAID storage hardware for
a large insurance claims services administration firm. RMM systems software support has also been
provided including all onsite work needed to install and troubleshoot the conversion from CA-1 TMS
system. The latter support included providing additional reporting, tape label generation and other
facilities needed by the client to complete the transition.
TRIDENT Services has assisted major City & County governments in the migration from MVS/ESA to
z/OS. TRIDENT Services has also assisted a major City government in the consolidation of two old
data center sites onto a single IBM 9121 processors at a new data center location. TRIDENT Services
then provided assistance in migrating application workloads to z/OS.
TRIDENT Services has provided comprehensive onsite systems programming support for a major credit
services operation. Support has included planning and installation support for new AMDAHL 5995
processors, new disk storage devices and new tape silos.
